"Tecnimont and NEXTCHEM Unveil GAIL's First Green Hydrogen Plant in India"
Tecnimont Private Limited, a subsidiary of Tecnimont in India, in collaboration with NEXTCHEM, has inaugurated GAIL (India) Limited's inaugural green hydrogen production facility at Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh.
This cutting-edge plant will produce 4.3 tons of green hydrogen per day, utilizing a 10-megawatt electrolysis unit. GAIL now stands as the pioneer in India to initiate megawatt-scale green hydrogen production, a significant milestone for the country's renewable energy ambitions.
The project, awarded in May 2022, aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets achieving a minimum annual green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tons by 2030. This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to attain energy independence by 2047 and to reach Net Zero emissions by 2070. Green hydrogen is expected to play a crucial role in the energy transition, facilitating renewable energy storage, industrial fuel replacement, clean transportation, decentralized power generation, and more.
The Vijaipur plant is set to serve as a benchmark for future energy transition projects by NEXTCHEM in India. Alessandro Bernini, CEO of MAIRE Group, emphasized the strategic significance of this milestone, positioning the company for upcoming energy transition opportunities in India. MAIRE Group, with a substantial presence in India boasting over 3,000 employees, underscores its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region.
