"Tata Capital PE Set to Invest Rs. 400 Crores in Healthcare and Senior Care"

Tata Capital Healthcare Fund (TCHF) has set its sights on a substantial investment of over Rs. 400 crore ($50 million) in the healthcare and life sciences sector, encompassing areas such as senior citizen care and pharmaceutical distribution. This ambitious investment plan is slated for execution over the next 9-12 months and will be drawn from TCHF's second fund, TCHF II, which boasts a corpus of approximately $130 million.

Visalakshi Chandramouli, Managing Partner at TCHF, shared that the fund has already deployed 60 percent of its corpus across a diverse spectrum of healthcare segments, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, cancer care, and diagnostics. An essential aspect of their investment strategy involves evaluating the impact of their investments on health beneficiaries and employment generation.

Based on preliminary statistics collected from portfolio companies over the past year, the fund has observed a notable 46.7 percent increase in job opportunities and a seven percent surge in the number of beneficiaries, benefiting more than 9.5 million individuals.

TCHF's recent investments in 2023 encompass a $10 million infusion into Apex Kidney Care (AKC), securing an undisclosed equity stake. AKC holds the distinction of being India's second-largest dialysis chain. In January 2023, TCHF directed a $10 million investment into Mumbai Oncocare Centre (MOC), a network of Cancer Daycare Centers.

TCHF is a growth-focused private equity fund that specializes in the healthcare and life sciences sector in India. This fund is sponsored by Tata Capital Ltd. Across two funds, TCHF has successfully raised nearly $200 million, comprising TCHF I (2012) and TCHF II (2022). Throughout its journey, TCHF has invested in 16 companies and has achieved six successful exits so far."
