"Tamil Nadu’s Rail Budget Surges to ₹7,611 Crore; Two New High-Speed Corridors to Link Chennai"

Maharashtra has been allotted ₹7,611 crore in the railway budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently. The allocation marks a significant increase compared to the ₹879 crore the state received between 2009 and 2014.

At a virtual briefing, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the new allotment is nearly nine times higher than the previous decade’s allocation. He also noted that Maharashtra had received ₹6,626 crore in the last financial year, 2025-26.

The substantial increase in funding is expected to support ongoing and upcoming railway projects across the state, boosting infrastructure and connectivity.
