Tamil Nadu Govt, Hyundai, IIT Madras Collaborate on Green Hydrogen Innovation Hub.

In a significant collaborative effort aimed at tackling climate change, the Tamil Nadu government, IIT Madras, and Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) have joined forces to boost green hydrogen innovation in India. On Tuesday, the partners unveiled the design of the Hyundai HTWO Innovation Centre at IIT Madras’s satellite campus in Thaiyur, near Chennai. This new R&D hub is set to become a catalyst for advancements in green hydrogen technology and its broader ecosystem. HTWO is Hyundai's dedicated hydrogen fuel cell system brand.

This initiative marks the next phase of HMIL's substantial ₹100 crore commitment towards pioneering green hydrogen innovation in the country. The funding is being provided partially through the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, a company statement confirmed. This partnership represents a powerful synergy between government, academia, and industry, all focused on accelerating India's transition to a sustainable energy future.
