Tamil Nadu Eases Industrial Clearances, Adds 609 Industries to 'White Category'.
In a major push for ease of doing business, the Tamil Nadu government has significantly expanded its list of "White Category" industries, bringing the total from 36 to 609. This move is designed to simplify and accelerate the process of establishing and operating businesses in the state.
Industries in the White Category are now exempt from obtaining the "Consent to Establish" and "Consent to Operate" certifications from the Pollution Control Board. This change is expected to provide faster, hassle-free clearances, making it easier for clean and non-polluting businesses to start operations.
According to a social media post by Guidance, Tamil Nadu’s nodal agency for investment promotion, this reform offers "greater regulatory clarity, accelerated project timelines and improved investor confidence." The agency emphasized that the state is "setting the pace for reform-driven industrial growth" by creating a more agile and transparent ecosystem for businesses to thrive.
