"State Government Allocates ₹781 Crore for Rural Road and Bridge Enhancements"

In a significant development aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure, the Tamil Nadu government has given the green light for a substantial investment of ₹781 crore. This allocation is intended to facilitate the improvement of 285 rural roads and 141 bridges under the "National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) - Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XXIX" for the fiscal year 2023-24.

Among these proposed projects, a noteworthy 35 bridges and 13 roads were prompted by requests received through the "Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar" program. The government formalized this decision through a recent government order, signifying its commitment to addressing the infrastructure needs of rural areas.

In a separate move, the State government has also sanctioned a sum of ₹843.40 crore for the year 2023 under the Operations, Maintenance, and Deficit Grant Fund, aligning with the recommendations set forth by the Sixth Finance Commission. This financial allocation further demonstrates the state's commitment to supporting and maintaining critical infrastructure to facilitate development and progress across Tamil Nadu.
