SNGPL signs gas supply agreement

Lahore: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) has signed a Gas Supply Agreement (GSA) to supply 75 MMCFD permeate gas from OGDCL's Qadirpur gas field to an Independent Power Plant (IPP), being set up by Engro Energy (Private) Limited (EEL) at Qadirpur, District Ghotki, Sindh.

This low quality permeate gas is presently being flared in the air and on commissioning of the power plant will be used to generate 227 megawatts electricity for supply to the National Grid. Power generation is expected to commence by December 2009.
