"SJVN Successfully Synchronizes Second Unit of Naitwar Mori Hydroelectric Project with National Grid"
In adherence to regulatory requirements, SJVN Limited has successfully synchronized the Second Unit of the 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) with the National Grid. Situated on the River Tons in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, NMHEP stands as a Run of the River project featuring two generating units, with the first unit having commenced commercial operation earlier this month.
Anticipated to generate a substantial 265.5 million units of electricity annually, SJVN has implemented a 37 km 220 KV Transmission Line for efficient power evacuation. With the completion of the project, the state of Uttarakhand is set to receive 12 percent of free electricity as royalty, while Project Affected Families will benefit from an equivalent of the cost of 100 units of electricity per month for the next ten years.
Beyond its immediate impact on power generation, the Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project aims to contribute to the broader development of the region, fostering infrastructure growth and employment opportunities. SJVN, recognized as a Power Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU), remains committed to supporting the energy objectives of the Government of India. The company's mission entails achieving 12,000 MW by 2026, aligned with a shared vision of reaching a robust installed capacity of 50,000 MW by the year 2040.
