Siemens Building tech launches new centre in Chennai
Chennai: Siemens Building Technologies announced the launch of a Graphics and Engineering Centre of Competence in Chennai to support its building automation projects in the Asia-Pacific region. The facility would strengthen the company’s focus on the markets in India and the Asia-Pacific.
The centre, the first in the region, will provide engineering design, software configuration and graphics development services. It will also drive Siemens Building’s new initiative in India, “maximise efficiency” to upgrade energy efficiency in existing buildings.
The Chennai facility is Siemens Building’s second with a similar facility in Sofia, Bulgaria, which supports its European operations. In the Asia-Pacific, the graphics and engineering operations had been decentralised till now. The company plans to start with 30 engineers initially and scale up operations as needed.
The Chennai centre will help improve efficiency of operations for Siemens Building, which addresses a range of building services for industries and utilities including electronic security, building automation, electrical installation, fire safety, energy efficiency, total building solutions and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). The company handles consultation, planning and building, operation, maintenance and provides products and systems for all the applications, Mr Anand Mecheri, CEO and Managing Director, SBT India Group said.
