Sembcorp India to Acquire ReNew Bright in $191 Million Deal.
Sembcorp Industries announced recently that its Indian subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra, will acquire ReNew Sun Bright for approximately S$246 million (US$191 million). This marks the company’s third renewable energy acquisition in India in the past three years.
The acquisition will add 300 megawatts (MW) of operational solar power capacity to Sembcorp’s renewable energy portfolio, bringing its total capacity to 6.9 gigawatts (GW). The move aligns with Sembcorp’s strategy to deepen its presence in India’s clean energy sector.
ReNew Sun Bright owns and operates a 300 MW solar power project located in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan. The project, which began commercial operations in November 2021, is connected to the national grid through the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). It operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company.
