"Samsung begins manufacturing laptops in India, expands 'Make in India' footprint".
In a major boost to the 'Make in India' initiative, Korean electronics giant Samsung has reportedly begun manufacturing laptops at its factory in Greater Noida. This move marks a significant expansion of the company's production capabilities in the country, which already include smartphones, feature phones, wearables, and tablets.
According to sources familiar with the development, Samsung has integrated laptop production into its existing facility. An unnamed source told the Press Trust of India (PTI), "Samsung has expanded its manufacturing portfolio. It has started manufacturing laptops in India at its Greater Noida factory. It has plans to start manufacturing more devices in the country."
The decision to manufacture laptops in India aligns with the government's push to establish the country as a global electronics manufacturing hub. By localizing production, Samsung could benefit from various government incentives and reduce its reliance on imports. This development could also create new jobs and further strengthen the supply chain for electronics in India.
