Centre's nod sought for fisheries harbour: Abhayachandra Jain.
Abhayachandra Jain, Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Services, said that he along with K. Jayaprakash Hedge, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, will hold talks with Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in New Delhi with regard to the construction of a fisheries harbour at Hejmady.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Coastal Security Police Station.
Mr. Jain said the construction of the fisheries harbour at Hejmady was awaiting clearance from the Union government. As soon as the Centre gave its nod, construction on this fisheries harbour would be started. The State government had approved a fisheries harbour in Hejmady.
The government would also construct a fisheries harbour at Kulai in Dakshina Kannada district at an estimated cost of Rs. 150 crore. But here again, the State government was awaiting environmental clearance for this harbour.
