Rs.23 crore sought for developing seven roads.

The Revenue Department has sought administration sanction from the State government for developing seven roads in the district in connection with the upcoming National Games in the State.

A meeting chaired by the District Collector C.A. Latha at the V.K. Krishna Menon Indoor Stadium, recently, sent a Rs. 23 crore proposal for improving these roads.

These are the Pavamani Road, from Mavoor Road junction to Thondayad National Highway, from Stadium to Chinthavalappu junction, from Bank Road junction to beach Cross Road, P.T. Usha Road and Customs Road which are linking the National Highway and the Kozhikode Beach, Nadakkavu Cross Road, English Church Cross Road and Kozhikode Medical College - Karanthur Road.

The proposal is to set up traffic signals at a cost of Rs. 33 lakh.

The games committee would submit a separate proposal to the Kerala State Electricity Board, the Collector said.

Ms. Latha said that the games committee chief executive engineer had given an assurance that the work on the ground floor, yard and first floor of the Corporation Stadium would be completed by October 15.
