Rs. 3,000 Crore Infra Boost for Warangal.

The historic Warangal city is all set to witness a major infrastructure boost soon. Apart from sanctioning a Special Development Authority with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 300 crore per year to usher in development, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao declared that Rs. 3,000 crore will be allocated to the city through non-budgetary schemes during the next three years to provide infrastructural facilities in the city recently.

Addressing the media before wrapping up his three-day tour to the district, KCR announced a slew of projects for the development of the city and also pledged to make it a slum free one in the next three years.

“You can witness the administration working on ‘war footing’ soon in the city with the commencement of the proposed infrastructural projects like expansion of roads, construction of bus bays, demolition of dilapidated buildings and others. We are going to spend `3,000 crore in the next three years in Warangal,” he added.

Stating that Warangal has already got recognition as education hub, the CM said a Tribal University, Veterinary College and Agriculture College will also come up here and added that efforts are on to get a Sainik school for the city.

He also said a 12-storeyed building would be constructed for the city police commissionerate (Police Command Centre), which includes DIG office on the premises of the existing DIG office in the city. “The district collectorate will have an integrated multi-storeyed building soon,” he added.

While the MGM hospital would be converted into a Centre for Mother and Child Care, a multi-speciality hospital would be constructed on the premises of the Kakatiya Medical College.

“The central prison, which is close to the KMC, would be shifted to Mamunur. Kaloji Health University will also be constructed on the KMC premises,” he added.

Referring to the poor infrastructural facilities in the city, KCR said bus-bays would be constructed to end the woes of passengers. Besides this, 20 integrated veg and non-veg market complexes and 20 community halls would be provided he said, he said.

“After returning to Hyderabad, I will engage a private consultant for the preparation of master plan for the development of Warangal city. They might finish their task in about 15 days,” he said and added that he would lay foundations for the proposed works after the preparation of the master plan.

He also assured double bedroom houses for the journalists including print and electronic media in about 60 acres. “The journalist colony itself would be developed as a “smart city”,” he assured.

The CM also said that about 40 small tanks that were encroached upon and filled with the unwanted to weeds would be renovated under the Mission Kakaitya programme.
