Rs. 2,680 crore for Amaravati railway line.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said Rs. 2,680 crore was allocated for the Vijayawada - Amaravati -Guntur railway line. Participating in the Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas programme organised by the BJP at Tenali as a chief guest, he said emphasis was laid on furthering improving rail connectivity to Andhra Pradesh. About 400 railway stations in the country would be modernised as part of a development plan.

The Centre is extending all necessary financial support to Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation of the State to enable it to achieve rapid economic growth, the Minister said.Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led NDA regime, the Union Minister said it launched many development schemes and welfare programmes in the last three years.

MP Galla Jayadev urged the Union Minister to allocate more funds for the railway projects in Guntur district. He also sought announcement of a new railway zone for Andhra Pradesh.

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Social Welfare Minister Nakka Ananda Babu, MPs Gokaraju Ganga Raju and Kambhampati Haribabu and others were present on the occasion.

Intercity Express to halt at Mangalagiri
Guntur: Vijayawada - Secunderabad Intercity Express will make a halt at Mangalagiri from Friday. The Railway Board has approved the stoppage of superfast express train at Mangalagiri for one minute
on an experimental basis for a period of six months from June 16. According to the railway authorities, Train No 12795 Vijayawada-Secunderabad Intercity Express leaves Vijayawada at 5:30 pm and reaches Mangalagiri at 5:45 pm. Train No 12796 Secunderabad-Vijayawada Intercity Express reaches Mangalagiri at 10.09 pm.
