Reliance Infra Ventures into Renewable Manufacturing with Solar Panel, Battery Units.

Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra) is making a strategic foray into renewable energy manufacturing by establishing integrated solar panel and battery production facilities.

As part of its Integrated Solar Manufacturing initiative, RInfra will set up a facility focused on enhancing solar panel and component production. Simultaneously, its Integrated Battery Manufacturing unit will develop advanced energy storage solutions for grid applications and electric mobility, the company said in an official release on Tuesday. However, RInfra did not disclose investment details or project locations.

To lead its renewable push, the company has appointed Ivan Saha as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Renewable Manufacturing and Mushtaque Hussain as CEO of Battery Manufacturing.

In a related development, Reliance Nu Suntech Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, recently secured a 930 MW solar energy project with a battery energy storage system (BESS) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) through an e-reverse auction. The project includes a minimum storage capacity of 465 MW/1,860 MWh, charged by solar power. Additionally, the company is developing 1,270 MW of renewable energy projects in Bhutan.
