Ratle project to generate 850 MW
Ministry of Environment and Forests has given a green signal to Ratle Hydro Electric Project Pvt Ltd, a GVK Group company, to increase it power project capacity from 690 MW to 850 MW.
Ratle Hydro Electric Project, to be constructed on Chenab River in Kishwar District of Jammu and Kashmir, is expected to commence operations in the year 2017 and it will provide 16 per cent of its output to the state of Jammu and Kashmir free of any charge.
GVK earlier informed the MOEF that the necessity of revision of installed capacity was mainly due to the revised water flow series approved by Central Water Commission.
Hyderabad based company GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd had bagged the competitive bid to develop the 690-MW Rattle Hydro Electric Power project in Jammu and Kashmir in 2010.
The project, to cost an investment of around Rs 5,000 crore is to be completed and commissioned by 2017. The project has been allotted by the state government on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 35 years, following which it will be transferred to the state on the payment of Rs 380 crore.
