Ratan Tata to invest in EV start-up Tork Motors.Bengaluru: BIAL signs MoU with BMRCL for 2 airport stations.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) recently signed an MoU to establish a 4.95km section of the ORR-Airport Metro at a cost of Rs. 800 crore.

While BMRCL will construct the section, along with civil, electro-mechanical and associated facilities, BIAL will develop, manage and maintain the two stations (Airport City station and KIA terminals) that will be located within the airport boundary.

“This Airport section is a part of the total 56km line named ‘ORR-Airport Metro’ from Central Silk Board Junction to Kempegowda International Airport via KR Puram and Hebbal. The ORR-Airport Metro will cost BMRCL Rs. 14,844 crore and it is likely to serve 7.8 lakh commuters daily,” a press release from BIAL and BMRCL stated.

“The two stations within the Airport boundaries are likely to see the daily ridership of 0.6 lakh commuters in 2024 and 1.88 lakh commuters by 2041,” it said.
