Railway Board DG Conducts Inspection of Two Kolkata Metro Stretches

Braj Mohan Agrawal, Director General (Safety) of the Railway Board, conducted an inspection on Thursday of the Esplanade-Howrah Maidan stretch of the Green Line and the Esplanade-Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stretch of the Blue Line in Kolkata Metro. The inspection was part of ongoing safety surveillance efforts.

Before the inspection, Agrawal held a high-level meeting with senior officials from Metro Railway, including General Manager P. Uday Kumar Reddy, to discuss safety measures in place, according to a statement released by Metro Railway.

During his inspection, Agrawal examined the infrastructure and amenities available to commuters along the two stretches. He also evaluated the passenger interchange facilities at Esplanade station, where the Blue Line and Green Line connect.

A spokesperson for Metro Railway noted that Agrawal expressed satisfaction with the current security measures and infrastructure quality. The visit underscores the importance of safety in metro operations and aims to ensure that passenger facilities and interchange points are up to standard.

This inspection is part of ongoing efforts to maintain safety and operational excellence within the Kolkata Metro system, one of India's oldest and busiest metro networks.
