Proposal to construct model road in Udupi.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, said on Friday that an action plan was being drawn up to create Greater Udupi by including eight gram panchayats neighbouring the Udupi City Municipal Council. He was delivering the Independence Day message after unfurling the National Flag at MGM College grounds here.

Mr. Sorake said Yembattu Badagabettu, Ambalpady, Kediyoor, Kadekar, Kuthpady, Alevoor, Korangrapady and Udyavar gram panchayats would be merged with Udupi CMC. Based on the 2011 Census, the government was planning to integrate Chantar, Heroor, Varambally, Harady, Baikady, Handady, Kumragod and Matapady gram panchayats in Udupi taluk to create a Brahmavar Town Municipal Council (TMC).

Similarly, a proposal had been submitted to upgrade Muloor, Padu, Uliyargoli and Mallar villages and create Kaup TMC.

The Syndicate Circle – District Offices Complex Road would be developed as a model road here at a cost of Rs. 6.9 crore. An action plan was being drawn up to provide all basic facilities for the 'Mastakabhisheka' ceremony of Lord Bahubali in Karkala to be held in January, 2015.
