Proposal for Capacity Doubling of Aravana Plant Submitted.
A proposal for raising the manufacturing capacity of the aravana plant to three lakh containers in 2015-2016 pilgrimage season has been submitted to the Travancore Devaswom Board.
Sabarimala devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said the proposal for the capacity doubling of the aravana plant was submitted in view of the increased flow of pilgrims and the subsequent higher demand for the prasadam. As per the proposal, an additional capacity of 1.50 lakh containers could be generated by installing a five boilers and container filling and ceiling units, Jayakumar said.
Jayakumar said the capacity doubling could be undertaken on the same premises of the present plant, Jayakumar said. The buffer stock of aravana prasadam with the devaswom godowns is 10 lakh containers. 'With the stock of paper containers with the devaswom godowns came to three lakhs and the average arrival of 1.50 lakh paper containers per day, the production of the plant could be maintained at 1.50 lakh aravana containers,' Jayakumar said.
In addition, the devaswom authorities got a stock of plastic containers at 13 lakh to meet the emergency situation, he said.
