POWERGRID Wins Major Gujarat Transmission Project

Maharatna PSU Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder for a major inter-state transmission project in Gujarat under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. POWERGRID received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on August 21, 2026, adding another significant project to its growing transmission portfolio.

The project will facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy from the Jam Khambhaliya Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-II and Jamnagar Phase-I, while strengthening its integration with the national power grid.

POWERGRID will execute the project under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model. The tariff discovered through the competitive bidding process stands at ₹822.91 crore per annum.

The project is expected to support Gujarat’s renewable energy expansion and strengthen the transmission infrastructure required to integrate large-scale clean power into the national electricity network.
