Posco seen to have cleared a key green hurdle.

The New Year's begun well for Posco India, keeping alive its dream of setting up a mega steel project in Odisha. According to sources close to the company, a crucial revalidation of its environmental clearance has been granted.

The company in 2013 resized its plans to adjust to opposition over land acquisition in the coastal district of Jagatsinghpur , 10km south of port town Paradeep, to a smaller plant of 8 mt. During the year, the Supreme Court had also given a favourable judgement clearing the way for the centre to proceed with allocating the iron ore mine recommended to the project.
