PM Modi Launches and Lays Foundation Stone for ₹29,400 Crore Worth of Projects in Mumbai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects worth over ₹29,400 crores in Mumbai on Saturday.

At the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, PM Modi was felicitated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

This visit marked PM Modi's first trip to Mumbai after being sworn in for a third consecutive term on June 9, following the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the tunnel work of the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project, valued at over ₹6,300 crores. The GMLR will provide road connectivity from the Western Express Highway at Goregaon to the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund. Spanning approximately 6.65 kilometers, the GMLR will offer direct connectivity from the Western suburbs to the proposed Navi Mumbai airport and the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. The Kalyan Yard remodelling will enhance the segregation of long-distance and suburban traffic, increasing the yard's capacity to handle more trains, thereby reducing congestion and improving operational efficiency. The Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal, to be built on over 32,600 sq m, will provide additional employment opportunities and serve as a terminal for handling cement and other commodities.

The Prime Minister also dedicated new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the extended Platforms No. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station to the nation. The new, longer platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus will accommodate longer trains, increasing passenger capacity. The extended platforms at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, now 382 meters longer with a cover shed and washable apron, will support trains with up to 24 coaches, enhancing passenger capacity.

Furthermore, PM Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana with an outlay of around ₹5,600 crores. This transformative internship program aims to address youth unemployment by providing skill enhancement and industry exposure opportunities for youth aged 18 to 30 years.
