"Patna's Underground Metro Corridor II Achieves 40% Completion of Civil Work: Official"
Daljit Singh, Advisor (Special Work) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), the nodal agency for the Patna Metro project, announced on Thursday that nearly 40% of the civil work on the underground section of Corridor II, spanning from Patna railway station to Patliputra bus terminal, has been completed. The corridor is anticipated to be commissioned by January 2027.
Singh conducted an inspection of the ongoing work at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, where tunneling work for the underground up and down line tracks is currently in progress. The first tunnel boring machines (TBMs) commenced operations at this site in March of last year.
Providing insights into the progress, Singh stated that both TBMs would be retrieved at the proposed site for the underground station at Patna University (PU), from where they would be relaunched for further tunnelling activities. "The total distance between Moin-ul-Haq Stadium and PU is about 1.5 km, with TBM-1 covering around 850 meters and the second TBM completing 600 meters. The first machine is expected to reach its destination by March, while the latter will be retrieved at PU by April," he added.
