Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing construction work for the Patna Metro Rail Project, visiting the Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath metro stations. During his visit, the Chief Minister urged officials to expedite progress, emphasizing the critical target of commencing operations on the priority corridor by August 15.
Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD), provided the Chief Minister with a detailed update on the construction status of the priority corridor, which spans from Malahi Pakadi to Pataliputra Bus Terminal. Singh informed CM Kumar that the immediate focus is on completing the 6.20 km stretch connecting Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and Pataliputra Bus Terminal on a priority basis. To support its operation, the state government has already allocated ₹115.10 crore.
During the inspection at Malahi Pakadi metro station, the UDHD secretary also briefed the Chief Minister on the various facilities planned for commuters, including escalators, ticket counters, passenger amenities, designated public and paid areas, lifts, and access paths to platforms.
Chief Minister Kumar reiterated his directive for swift completion, stating, "We have been continuously inspecting its construction works and instructed the officials to ensure its completion on time so that people have convenience in commuting."
The push for an August 15 launch signifies the state government's determination to bring modern rapid transit to Patna, promising a significant improvement in urban mobility for its residents.
