Pak Govt to set up fruits and vegetale markets
Lahore: Government will establish modern fruit and vegetable markets at a cost of Rs 350 million in the urban areas of the province whereas, projects of setting up cold storage in the ten major districts would also be completed for preserving fruits and vegetables.
This was stated by Provincial Minister Haji Muhammad Ishaq. The Minister said that an informative programme had been initiated by the government for creating awareness among the farmers regarding cultivation of vegetables and fruits on modern lines.
He said that not only experts would deliver lectures to them but also provide useful information regarding better production through different documentaries.
He said that immaculate sanitary conditions would be ensured in these markets besides vendors and middle man mafia would be discouraged. He said that by setting up cold storage huge quantity of fruits and vegetables could be preserved. Haji Muhammad Ishaq said that farmers were an important segment of society and were playing vital role for strengthening the economy.
