ONGC to Set Up Solar Power Plant.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Rajahmundry Asset executive director P Krishna Rao said that it was the duty of everyone to protect the environment.
Participating in a meeting conducted in connection with the World Environment Day in the Godavari Base Complex recently, he said in the next one year a one megawatt capacity solar power plant would be set up to cater to the ONGC office and its colony in Rajahmundry.
Solar power reduces the carbon footprint of the ONGC in the city considerably, he added. The ONGC saved five lakh units of power since 2008 because of the green initiatives in the office and installation of the star-rated electrical equipment and devices in the office, he said.
He underscored the need to evolve stringent environment audit and underlined the need to organise an awareness campaign to educate commoners on the ecological issues. An appreciation certificate was also presented by the Governor to ONGC-Rajahmundry in this regard. Chief engineer (drilling) PT Rao coordinated the programme. ONGC officials and staff were present.
