NPCIL , Westinghouse sign MOU for AP1000 reactors

Mumbai: The Nucelar Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) and US-based Westinghouse Electric company (WEC) have signed an MoU for setting up six to eight AP1000 type nuclear power reactors in India.

AP1000 is pressurised water reactor and trademark of Westinghouse Electric Co.

As part of international civil nuclear cooperation, India had also signed MoU with General Electric Hitachi, USA for setting up of four Advanced Boiling Water Reactors. The deal will accommodate plants of 10,000 MW each.
