Noida Airport Launch Pushed to April 2025

The launch of Noida airport has been delayed by at least four months due to setbacks in the delivery of construction materials and equipment, the developing company announced today.

Originally scheduled to open by the end of December, the airport will now commence commercial operations by the end of next April.

"This shift (in deadline) has taken place due to various reasons including delays in delivery of construction materials and equipment caused by Covid-19 restrictions and supply chain constraints due to geopolitical conflict. We are working with all stakeholders to maintain the pace of construction activities and preparations for operational readiness," Yamuna International Airport Private Ltd (YIAPL) stated.

YIAPL, owned by Zurich Airport, is developing the Delhi National Capital Region's second airport in a public-private partnership with the Uttar Pradesh government. In its first phase, the airport will feature a single runway and handle 12 million passengers annually.

The engineering procurement and construction contract for the airport was awarded to Tata Projects in June 2022.

“Work on the runway, passenger terminal, and control tower is well advanced. Recently, concessions for ground handling, operation of commercial areas, and key maintenance contracts were awarded. Additionally, agreements have been signed with several airlines for flight connections from Noida International Airport,” YIAPL added.
