Nizam-Era Airports Poised for Grand Revival.

Telangana's civil aviation sector is poised for significant growth as two historic airports from the pre-Independence era—Warangal and Adilabad—are set to be revived, increasing the number of operational airports in the state to three.

In Warangal, the 94-year-old Mamnoor airport, built by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, is being brought back to life after lying dormant for nearly four decades. Once home to two small runways, the site is now being readied for modern passenger operations, with aircraft expected to take to the skies in the near future.

The Centre approved a proposal in February this year to develop Warangal airport at the Mamnoor airstrip. Following this, the Telangana government has accelerated efforts to complete the infrastructure within the next few years, according to official sources.
