Experts from NIT, Warangal, on Friday made a field visit to the NAD area where a flyover will come up.
Accompanied by VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar, NIT Director and expert in civil and structural engineering N.V. Rama Rao, Prof. Prasad (Transport) and Prof. Rajesh (Structural Engineering) visited the flyover area.
The entire stretch and markings of piers was examined and a number of valuable suggestions that could be implemented came during the visit. The NIT is vetting the design of the double rotary flyover proposed at NAD.
VUDA is insisting on a field visit so as to take up any modification required as it will not be possible to take them up later.
‘The experts will return to Warangal and come back with the necessary modifications in a week,’ Mr. Basanth Kumar told The Hindu.
The aspects for which modification are required, fall in Phase II and Phase III of the project. ‘Hence we have decided to go ahead with the project and work will begin on April 2 on one pier,’ the Vice-Chairman said.
One aspect that received particular attention was arms of the bridge and the need to have a service road.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the flyover, estimated to cost ₹113 crore, in October last.
