NFR awards Rs. 785 cr contract to HCC-Coastal JV.

The Northeast Frontier Railway has awarded a contract of Rs. 785 crore to the joint venture between infrastructure major HCC and Coastal Projects Ltd, for developing a 9.5 km tunnel between Tupul-Imphal for the New Railway Line Project from Jiribam-Tupul.

While the share of HCC in the joint venture is 60 per cent, at Rs 471 crore, the project is to be completed in 40 months.

This is the fourth successive order received by HCC from Northeast Frontier Railway on the new railway line between Jiribam and Tupul. The first project was to construct a 3.25 km tunnel between Dholakal and Kaimai Road stations and the second was the construction of a 3.3 km tunnel between Kambiron Road and Thingou stations.

The third order was to develop a 4.9 km long railway tunnel between Kaimai Road and Kambiron Road stations.

HCC is also constructing the 4.315 km long Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge over the river Brahmaputra near Dibrugarh, Assam for the Northeast Frontier Railway.

HCC has already constructed round 3,600 lane km of expressways/highways across the country.
