New ATC tower at Mangalore airport.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has operationalised the new air traffic control tower at Mangalore International Airport.

A press release by JT Radhakrishna, Director of Mangalore International Airport, said the new air traffic control tower at the airport was operationalised on a 24x7 basis recently.

The height of the tower is 25 metres with an all-round view of air space. AAI will take up shifting of all communication and air traffic control equipment from old terminal building to the new building by May.

Indian Meteorological Department's facility will also be established at the new technical building. This will facilitate smooth operation of aircraft from and to Mangalore airport in future, it said.

The new control tower and technical building were built at a cost of Rs. 20 crore.
