National Democratic Alliance Plans Textile Mega Hub Near Tiruppur; Piyush Goyal Backs Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Tamil Nadu, if governed by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam following the Assembly elections, will establish a large industrial estate around Tiruppur to boost the textile sector, create lakhs of jobs, and enhance state revenues, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.

Addressing the media in the textile hub, Goyal said the proposed expansion would transform Tiruppur into a global manufacturing centre. He added that he has been in continuous contact with industry and business leaders in the region and sees strong potential for significant investments flowing into the area.

Highlighting India’s trade outreach, Goyal noted that the Centre has finalised nine free trade agreements covering 38 developed economies, accounting for nearly two-thirds of global trade. He said inputs from Tiruppur’s textile industry were consistently considered during negotiations, adding that the sector is optimistic about expanded access to global markets.
