"MRPL Clinches 'Best Innovation in Refinery' Award from Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for Consecutive Second Year"

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has been recognized with the esteemed 'Best Innovation in Refinery' award by the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for the fiscal year 2022-23. MRPL's achievement is all the more remarkable as it marks the second consecutive year that the company has secured this prestigious honor, competing against strong contenders such as IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL, as stated in a recent media release.

The award is a testament to MRPL's groundbreaking innovation in the field of refinery operations, notably for its patented energy-efficient hydrocarbon distillation process. The proposal submitted by MRPL's dedicated research and development team underwent rigorous evaluation processes. The initial screening was conducted by the Centre for Higher Technology, while the final assessment was carried out by the esteemed Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), which included renowned scientists like Anil Kakodkar and representatives from institutions such as CSIR labs and IITs.

The award ceremony took place at the Energy Technology Meet 2023 in New Delhi, where Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, had the honor of presenting the award to the team led by MRPL's Managing Director, Sanjay Varma. This recognition underscores MRPL's continued commitment to innovation and excellence in the petroleum and refinery sector.
