Mother Dairy aims for a 13 percent growth in turnover to ₹17,000 crore this fiscal year, driven by increased demand for its dairy and edible oil products. The company is a leading milk supplier in Delhi-NCR and sells edible oils nationwide under the 'Dhara' brand, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables in Delhi-NCR through approximately 400 'Safal' retail outlets.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Mother Dairy Managing Director Manish Bandlish highlighted the company's milestone revenue of ₹15,000 crore achieved in the last fiscal year. "We have been consistently growing, achieving over a 40 percent jump in revenue in the last three years," Bandlish told PTI. He expressed confidence in continuing this momentum, expecting to add another ₹1,500 to 2,000 crore in the current fiscal year.
Bandlish noted that the start of the 2024-25 fiscal year has been very encouraging, with summer-led categories like curd, ice creams, and dairy beverages growing by more than 40 percent in volume terms. "This year, we are focused on strengthening our national presence with enhanced distribution, augmented capacities, and new product launches to excite consumers," he said.
Mother Dairy has added more than ₹4,500 crore to its topline in the past three fiscal years and has launched around 30 products so far this calendar year. The company plans to build a national footprint, augment capacities for future growth, and explore new opportunities in existing and new product categories. Focus areas include fermented dairy, sweets, and cheese, among others.
New facilities are being established in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and Gujarat for dairy production. The Nagpur plant will be a mega-dairy processing plant with a capacity of 6 lakh liters per day, expandable up to 10 lakh liters per day, producing liquid milk and dairy products. Additionally, capacity for table butter will be added at the existing Junagadh facility.
In the fruits and vegetables sector, greenfield plants are being set up in Karnataka and Gujarat for pulp and frozen portfolios. The company is also strengthening Dhara's market share.
Mother Dairy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), was established in 1974 under the 'Operation Flood' initiative, the world's largest dairy development program aimed at making India a milk-sufficient nation. Today, Mother Dairy is a leading player in the dairy industry, manufacturing and selling milk and milk products, including cultured products, ice creams, paneer, and ghee under the 'Mother Dairy' brand. It sells over 45 lakh liters of milk per day across the country, with more than 35 lakh liters per day in Delhi-NCR.
The company also has a diversified portfolio of products under the 'Dhara' brand for edible oils and 'Safal' brand for fresh fruits & vegetables, frozen vegetables & snacks, unpolished pulses, and pulps & concentrates. Mother Dairy operates nine company-owned milk processing plants and uses 16 third-party plants for edible oils.
