Minister sets deadline for completion of projects.
Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has asked the engineers to complete projects in Karimnagar as per the schedule since they are key components in the reengineering of projects.
In a three-hour-long meeting held at Karimnagar recently, the Minister discussed in detail about Kaleshwaram, Yellampally, Flood Flow Canal, Mid Manair, Sriramsagar main canal modernisation works. Special Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Engineer-in-Chief C. Muralidhar, Chief Engineers N. Venkateshwarlu, G. Anil Kumar and B. Shankar and several Superintending Engineers, Revenue officials participated. He wanted the engineers to pace up the ongoing works so that dry-run could be take up on the Yellampally canal to Medaram and Gangadhara areas, which would irrigate 1.65 lakh acres, by the month-end. He told the Chief Engineers to clear hurdles in land acquisition by coordinating with Revenue and Forest Department officials. He asked them to ensure dry-run of Vemanur pump house in August.’ Further, he asked the engineers to complete Mid Manair project by June next year and speed up modernisation works of Sriramsagar project. He set the target of July-end to complete the modernisation works. He pointed out that only 40 per cent work was done in six packages above Lower Manair dam and 85 p.c. and 70 p.c. work were done in 5 and 4 packages, respectively below LMD.
