Mifzal wins bid for Kaashidhoo resort
Male: Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation revealed that 7 parties participated in the bidding of Kaashidhoo resort to developed after reclaiming a large part of the islands natural lagoon. Tourism Ministry revealed this at the bid opening ceremony held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel on the 5 of this month. The bidding for the 200 bed resort opened on the 14th of April this year.
The Ministry said of 11 parties bought the bid documents of which 10 are private individuals and one private company. However when the dead line for submission of the bid proposals elapsed only but the time limit due to the dead line only six individuals and one company submitted documents.
The highest bidder was Mifzaal Ibrahim Didi of Galolhu Manaam, Male’ and his bid amounted to USD19, 750. Mifzal proposed to pay USD 16,000 for the first year and US $ 15,750 in the second year and an annual payment of USD 20,000 for the rest of the ten years.
Kaashidhoo, located in Kaafu Atoll has a large natural lagoon almost the size of the island. The island is sparsely populated. Apprximaetrly 20 hectors is to be reclaimed for the development of the resort.
The main occupation of the islanders is farming and the introduction of tourism is expected to improve the living standards of the people.
