Megha Engineering Transforms from Fabrication Unit to Infrastructure Giant

On March 15, 2024, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) found itself thrust into the spotlight as the State Bank of India unveiled its list of electoral bond (EB) donors. Previously flying under the radar, MEIL swiftly captured public attention as it emerged as the second-highest purchaser of EBs between 2019 and 2023, having contributed a staggering ₹966 crore. Notably, the company emerged as the foremost donor to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a donation of ₹584 crore, as well as to the Bharatiya Rashtriya Sahara (BRS) with ₹195 crore. Additionally, MEIL secured its position as the second-largest donor for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) with ₹85 crore and for the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR Congress) with ₹37 crore. This revelation thrust MEIL into the forefront of public discourse, shedding light on its significant financial contributions to various political entities.
