Mangalagiri Railway Station Gets Modern Upgrade, PM Modi to Inaugurate on July 17.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually dedicate the redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh to the nation on July 17, as part of the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

The Non-Suburban Grade category station under the Guntur Division of Indian Railways has been upgraded at a cost of ₹12.5 crore, with improved passenger amenities and modern infrastructure aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility and travel experience.

According to a railway press release, the redevelopment includes a complete renovation of the existing station building along with the construction of a modern second-entry station facility featuring a booking office, waiting halls and a VIP lounge.

The upgraded station will have an enhanced facade, a spacious entrance porch, renovated waiting areas, modern toilets, improved platform surfacing, durable seating arrangements, standardised passenger signage and extensive landscaping.

To improve accessibility for all passengers, the station has been equipped with two lifts and facilities such as tactile pathways, ramps and accessible toilets.

The redevelopment project also includes new platform shelters on Platforms 1 and 4, along with improvements to the front and rear circulating areas. These upgrades include dedicated parking spaces, pedestrian pathways, street lighting, lane markings and landscaping.

Access control measures, including boundary walls and wider entry and exit gates, have also been introduced to ensure smoother passenger movement.

The inauguration of Mangalagiri Railway Station marks another milestone in Indian Railways’ ongoing station modernisation programme under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at improving passenger comfort, operational efficiency and infrastructure while preserving the distinct identity of railway stations.
