L&T Wins Power Transmission Projects Valued Up to ₹10,000 Crore.
Engineering firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced recently that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division has secured contracts valued up to ₹10,000 crore for high-voltage grid expansion projects across the Middle East and Africa.
The contracts include a consortium-led project in Kenya to develop a National System Control Centre, which will integrate diverse energy sources and regulate power distribution nationwide. This transmission hub will enhance the stability and efficiency of Kenya’s grid, particularly as renewable energy sources are added. Additionally, L&T will implement a backup energy management system to support ongoing operations.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T will undertake turnkey construction of high-voltage transmission lines, and in Qatar, the company has received orders for gas-insulated substations as part of a power expansion initiative.
L&T plans to leverage its expertise in digital energy solutions and extensive experience in transmission projects to support the successful execution of these projects.
