L&T Gets LNTP for NTPC’s 1,600 MW Lara Stage-III Thermal Power Project

L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 2×800 MW Lara Stage-III thermal power project in Chhattisgarh.

The project will add 1,600 MW of generation capacity to India’s power grid and represents L&T’s third ultra-supercritical thermal power project awarded by NTPC in the past two years.

Under the EPC contract, L&T will undertake the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of two 800 MW ultra-supercritical units. The scope covers boilers, steam turbines, generators, electrostatic precipitators, air-cooled condensers and associated mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation and civil works.

The formal Notice to Proceed will follow after obtaining environmental clearance and completion of the LNTP period.

The project’s ultra-supercritical technology is expected to improve generation efficiency and reduce specific emissions while providing reliable baseload power to support India’s growing electricity demand.
