The expansion of Laxmibai Nagar station is progressing rapidly as it prepares to serve as an alternative hub during the redevelopment of Indore railway station. The project includes the construction of two new platforms, multiple foot-over-bridges, and a new station building to accommodate train operations temporarily.
With soil testing work already underway at Indore station, the ongoing developments at Laxmibai Nagar station are expected to be completed by the end of this year. The railways have also planned to shift train maintenance activities to Laxmibai Nagar and Mhow railway stations.
"To manage the increasing number of trains and support the redevelopment project, all train maintenance work will be relocated to Laxmibai Nagar and Mhow stations. Laxmibai Nagar is set to become a key coaching depot," said Khemraj Meena, Railway PRO.
The station is also undergoing infrastructural upgrades, including raising the height of two existing platforms and constructing two additional platforms, foot-over-bridges, and a new station building.
The final design for Indore railway station is expected to be finalized within the next three months, after which the redevelopment will proceed in phases. During this period, train operations will be redirected to Laxmibai Nagar and Mhow stations, depending on their routes.
