Kurukshetra Elevated Rail Track Set to be Completed by March: Haryana Chief Secretary

Haryana's Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal, declared on Friday that the construction of the Kurukshetra elevated rail track, managed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) with a budget of Rs. 350 crore, is in its final stages and is expected to be concluded by March this year.

The elevated track is designed to eliminate five manned level crossings along the Kurukshetra-Narwana railway line, significantly enhancing the efficiency and safety of both rail and road traffic within Kurukshetra city.

Speaking at the inaugural annual function of the HRIDC, Chief Secretary Kaushal highlighted the completion of the newly constructed office building of the HRIDC in Gurugram's Sector 32.

Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing project by the Haryana Rail Orbital Corporation, an HRIDC associate company, which is laying a 126km mid-high-speed railway track with overhead electrification from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhoda. This project aims to facilitate double-stack container freight, accommodating a double-decker freight train with ease. The land acquisition process has been finalized, with Rs 1,100 crore compensation disbursed to farmers.

The railway project spans across Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Gurugram districts and is executed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) involving the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), the GMDA, and private entities Maruti and AL Cargo.

Emphasizing that Haryana leads in developing a modern railway system in northern India, Chief Secretary Kaushal applauded the dedication of HRIDC officers and employees, expressing confidence in the corporation's ability to continue achieving milestones in railway system development.
