KMRL seeks French loan for metro's extension plan.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has sought funds from Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the French development agency, to fund the metro's phase two extensions to Angamaly, Kakkanad and Fort Kochi.

'The extensions are estimated to cost Rs. 10,000 crore and are based on our long-term plans,' said KMRL's managing director Elias George, at a media interaction recently following a review of various components of the project by a visiting team of experts from the AFD. A draft detailed project report (DPR) of the extensions is ready and the KMRL has suggested a few changes.
