"Kerala Health Minister Awaits Central Approval for AIIMS Establishment in Kinalur, Kozhikode"

Health Minister Veena George has disclosed that the State government is currently in anticipation of a response from the Union government regarding its proposal to establish an All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kinalur, situated near Balussery within Kozhikode district.

The Minister made this announcement following her visit to the taluk hospital in Balussery on Thursday, which was primarily aimed at evaluating the operational efficiency of government hospitals within the district. Her visit sought to assess ongoing development projects, identify future requirements, and address any existing shortcomings.

During her statement, Ms. George emphasized that the establishment of the AIIMS in Kinalur is contingent on the approval of the proposal by the Central government. She also confirmed that the demand for additional staff at the taluk hospital is actively under consideration. As part of the hospital's enhancement, five more beds will be introduced to the existing five-bed dialysis center. In addition to these updates, the Health Minister conducted a comprehensive review of development projects undertaken with the allocation of ₹23 crore from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

Prior to her visit to Balussery, Minister Veena George inspected the progress of development in the operation theater and outpatient ward at the Thamarassery taluk hospital. She disclosed that a meeting would be organized at the Kozhikode district collectorate to deliberate on issues concerning the hospital's development.

In another visit to the taluk hospital in Perambra, Ms. George affirmed her commitment to expedite tender procedures for the construction of a new building using KIIFB funds. She also discussed the potential transfer of two acres from the C.K.G. Memorial Government College for the purpose of hospital development.

Furthermore, Minister Veena George explored taluk hospitals in Kuttiyadi and Nadapuram, being accompanied by Health department officials and local MLAs.
