KCR to Lay Foundation Stone for Warangal NH Work.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with Union minister of surface transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, will lay the foundation stone for widening of National Highway No 163 in Warangal on January 4.

The works, to be taken up by L&T on engineering, procurement and contract (EPC) basis with an investment of Rs. 1,905 crore, will be completed in 30 months. Once completed, a four-lane road between Hyderabad and Warangal cities will come into use.

Two road overbridges (RoBs), four vehicular underpasses (VUPs), one overpass (OP), three pedestrian underpasses (PUP), three major bridges and 25 minor bridges will be built, according to roads and buildings minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.

Chandrasekhar Rao and Gadkari will also inaugurate a major bridge constructed on Godavari river at Eturunagaram on National Highway 163 (old NH 202) in Warangal on January 4. The Rs 340-crore bridge was built under the Left Wing Extremist (LEW) scheme. The bridge will provide transportation to the most backward areas in Khammam and Warangal districts.

The distance between Bhadrachalam in Khammam district and Bhupalapatnam in Chhattisgarh will be reduced by 120 km and the travel time by three hours thanks to the Eturunagaram bridge. Its construction began in March 2012 and was completed last month.
