Karnataka Charts GCC Expansion Beyond Bengaluru, Seeks Fresh Tech Investments.

Karnataka recently reaffirmed its focus on strengthening its position as India's leading global capability centre (GCC) destination, with the state government holding consultations with industry leaders under its Ease of Doing Business initiative while exploring opportunities to expand the sector beyond Bengaluru.

The Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology, in partnership with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), hosted KATALYST CONNECT: The Chief Minister's Meet with Global Capability Centre (GCC) Leaders in Bengaluru. The consultation was held under KATALYST, the state government's Ease of Doing Business (EODB) initiative for GCCs.

The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including Home and IT Minister Priyank M Kharge, Chief Minister's Financial Advisor L K Atheeq (IAS), and IT and Biotechnology Secretary Dr N Manjula (IAS), who interacted with industry leaders on measures to further strengthen Karnataka's GCC ecosystem.

Ahead of the consultation, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited the Bengaluru campus of Target, the global capability centre of US retailer Target Corporation. During the visit, he interacted with the company's leadership and reviewed the wide range of capabilities being developed from Karnataka, including technology, artificial intelligence, finance, marketing, digital operations, supply chain, merchandising and store design.
