JSW Energy Commissions 150 MW Hydropower Project in Tidong, Strengthens Portfolio.

JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has successfully commissioned the full 150 MW capacity of Tidong Power Generation Private Limited, a run-of-river hydroelectric project located in the Tidong Valley in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district.

The project has been commissioned ahead of its earlier guidance of October 2026, underscoring the company’s execution capabilities.

Tidong Power has a long-term power purchase agreement with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd to supply 75 MW of power during the May–October period at a tariff of ₹5.57 per kWh.

The 150 MW project is JSW Energy’s fourth hydro asset in Himachal Pradesh and a strategic addition to its hydropower portfolio, further strengthening its position as India’s largest private sector hydropower operator. The company said the project is expected to be earnings-accretive in FY27, supported by its tariff structure and seasonal hydro generation profile. Its proximity to the Karcham Wangtoo plant is also expected to enable operational synergies.

With this commissioning, JSW Energy’s total installed capacity addition in Q1 FY27 to date stands at around 445 MW, comprising 225 MW wind, 70 MW solar and 150 MW hydro, taking its overall installed capacity to approximately 13,900 MW.

Commenting on the development, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, said the early commissioning reflects the company’s execution strength and focus on building a diversified generation portfolio. He added that hydro power remains a key enabler of grid stability and round-the-clock clean energy, and that Tidong strengthens JSW Energy’s presence in Himachal Pradesh while contributing to its long-term growth targets.

JSW Energy currently has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, including 13.9 GW operational, 13.6 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable segments, and a 4.6 GW development pipeline. The company also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, comprising pumped hydro storage projects of 26.4 GWh and battery energy storage systems of 3.2 GWh.

The company aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, alongside its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
